Welcome back to to blog ladies and gentlemen. Don't really have a ton of new stuff for you today, but I just wanted to follow up on a few things from yesterdays post. Literally moments after posting it, with the majority of it being about Pauly Shore, I got like 12 page views from Denmark, so, what's the deal? Is Pauly Shore big in Denmark or something, can someone help me out with this? I did a google search and couldn't really find anything, is this like a David Hasselhoff in Germany or Jerry Lewis in France thing. Speaking of France, they have joined the ranks, not sure if I had mentioned that and Kuwait, so another middle east country. Iran picked it up with a few views following the posting of the Nikolai Volkoff & Iron Sheik video. I also went over 500 pageviews, so that's pretty awesome, thanks for reading.
I also forgot to mention something about Son-In-Law yesterday. Brendan Fraser had a cameo in it as Link, he was at a party dressed up in his prom outfit, played with a lighter and ate a dead frog. So, this actually got me thinking, here's what must have happened to the Link character, they of course dig him up in Encino Man, he goes to High School, he must have graduated, then he went to college in Son-In-Law, then decided to join the Army in In The Army Now and then must have died in combat, cause was not in Jury Duty or Bio-Dome, so he was the lucky one. But I will say this, I would much rather watch all 6 Pauly Shore movies then watch 6 minutes of Jersey Shore, but...
Tonight Snooki is gonna be on Monday Night Raw, not totally sure what she's gonna do, she's only like 4 feet tall, right, so like I don't see her doing anything physical, unless she wrestles a midget, which I guess could happen, anyway you look at it, I'm sure it will be stupid. But Jersey Shore brings up something else, it's on MTV, which believe it or not at one time used to be sort for Music Television, apparently it doesn't anymore, and I'm actually not making a joke about that, look it up, it's officially called MTV now, not Music Television. Anyway, I'm going somewhere with this, we are little under 7 months away from me turning a certain age, but before I do MTV does, August 1, 1981 was when it debuted, and for the first 20 years it was actually pretty good, I used to watch it all the time, they had music, some shows, it was very influential and where you went to see cool videos and hear cool music. In the last 10 years it turned into a crappy reality show station, with the exception of them bringing back Beavis & Butthead this summer. So, what does this have to do with the Blog, well, over the course of the next few whatever, I'm gonna be throwing up some of the best videos that aired over the years, well, the important years anyway. Here to start it off is the first Music Video that actually aired on MTV, "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles, and it's kinda interesting, cause that was kinda true, prior to MTV, there were some shows that aired Music Videos, but it wasn't imperative that music acts have videos, until MTV started. There was actually a song that came out last year by The Limousines called "Internet Killed the Video Stars" which is pretty accurate, probably could have came out in like 03 or 04, but whatever, once the internet did kind of ruin MTV, there was no reason to have music videos on there anymore, if you want to go watch music video you just go on the internet, youtube or the bands website, no reason to watch MTV and wait until the video comes on. But anyway, here it is along with the actually launch of MTV and the 2nd video ever aired Pat Benatar "You Better Run".
Ok, so also wanted to follow up with something else from yesterday's post, the whole secrets thing, which btw that whole this just totally sucked, you know it's not that people found the secret, but it's kinda like that episode of Seinfeld, when George tells the Ross's he has a place in the Hamptons, but then Elaine tells them they don't, but then they don't tell George that they know he is lying, you know this one:
Snoopy and Prickly Pete. Anyway, lies, if you know that someone is lying, you call them a liar, well if you know some has a secret, whatever. I got off topic the point was more the videos from Conan, man watching those brings back some memories, that's when Conan was throwing his fastball at 98mph, that was great stuff, his new show just doesn't compare, neither did when he was on The Tonight Show, nothing will come close to the old Late Night stuff, so here is your treat for today, unfortunately the quality of this one kinda sucks, but it was the only version I could find, and it's one of the best things he ever did, so I just have to post it.
