Who Will Survive ...... New York City?

Well hello there ladies and gents, it's me back again with some fun stuff for you dig your teeth into. This post probably should have been done a week ago, but whatever, screw you, I was busy, here is it now, you got a problem with that, take it up with my fist. If that sounded harsh, remember, I'm over 30 and get to be angry, hence the name of the blog, so let's quit talking crap and get right down to it.

Ok, last time out, I told you about my night at Monday Night Raw at the TD Garden, and had a couple previews for you, one of which was the Foo Fighters, which is where I was 2 nights after Raw, some place, just a couple sections over. It was a really good show, Foo Fighters are a great band, Dave Grohl knows how to put on a show. It's really interesting to think about what would have happened had Kurt Cobain not have killed himself, would Foo Fighters ever had happened, I tend to think that somewhere down the line Dave Grohl would have branched out and done his own stuff, would it have been Foo Fighters, who knows, but I'm guessing that had Nirvana continued, Grohl would have started to have a bit more input or else he might have left the band of maybe Cobain would have kicked him out, but who knows, what happened happened and the Foo Fighters exist and entertained me that night. Here are some pictures:
Here is the Foo Fighters kicking things off with Bridge Burning when they took the stage right around 9pm
Here is a picture of Dave Grohl playing on a little stage they had setup among the fans, he played one song out there during the regular set, then did a few solo songs at the beginning of the encore. Plus you can also see the weird hair that the dude in front of us had, which was a nice distraction from the ugly girl giving her boyfriend a lapdance for some reason on the other side of the row. Anyways, here was what the set list looked like.:

  1. (Pink Floyd cover)
  2. Encore:
  3. (Dave Grohl acoustic)
  4. (Dave Grohl acoustic)
  5. (Dave Grohl solo acoustic into full band)
So, yeah, pretty awesome setlist, they played until about 11:45, so pretty long set as well. Great show!

So, after taking a little break to visit the 'rents and help them with some computer issues, and then being treated to dinner at the brand new Midtown Smokehouse & Grill in Needham. It was pretty good and has a pretty good beer selection. If you are familiar with Needham, it is located where the Village Fish used to be, right on Great Plain Ave next to Stonehearth Pizza, which is good too, right next to CVS, I recommend it if you are in the area and looking for some BBQ.

Then it was time to head to NYC. Friday was bit of a whirlwind as it usually is when you are going anywhere on a Friday it seems like, got stuck in some traffic, not too bad, but it happened. We decided to make a stop to get some foot at... Hooters, hey, we were hungry and it was right there, don't judge. Now, I haven't been to a Hooters since there was one down by the Fleetcenter as it was known at the time, and maybe it was because the only time I went there it was before or after some sort of event, as opposed to a Hooters in the middle of CT, but there certainly an element there that is a bit sketchy. Also, they changed the shirts from white to black, I'll leave that as it is. But, whatever the food was pretty good the beer was cold, that's all we were really looking for. So then after sitting in some more traffic we arrived. We then hung out and pregamed for a while, then head out to a bar, what bar, I have no idea, I know very little about NYC and what's where and what the bars names are or anything, could have been called anything and been anywhere, looks all the same. But we did find the Anus Chair:
Saturday was when things really got it all started. First of all, it started off with a tradition, as my buddy that were staying with has a Nintendo Entertainment System, and has the game Tecmo Super Bowl,  which features in my mind the best video game sports character of all time Bo Jackson. So I as always play a game with the Raiders and see how many yards I can get. My record is somewhere around 850 yds, don't really remember exactly. This time around I was not as fortunate, as I only was able to get 629 yds and 7 TDs. Oh well, I'll do better next time. The rest of Saturday was spent pregaming for the Bruins game. Some of that time was spent out on my Buddy's apartment building's roofdeck, which apparently was not supposed to be open, but it was, so we took advantage. There is a pretty nice view from there, if you look around the building, like I did for this picture:
Yup, that is the Empire State Building. So, after some more pregamming we headed out to Long Island to go see the Bruins take on the Islanders at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. Well, what can I say about that arena, it's pretty much the Worcester Centrum, not really sure how else to explain it. Well, the crowd had a ton of Bruins fans in it, so the ovation for the Bruins was a good one when they took the ice:
Now, this was my first Bruins road game, and since they changed the rules around about the home teams wearing their dark colors and the road team wearing white, this was to be my first chance to see the Bruins wear White in a long time, so of course what happened, Bruins wear black and Islanders wear white. Oh well, Bruins went on to win 6-0, Tim Thomas had a shutout, they extended their win streak to 8 games. They would then win 2 more to make it an even 10, before losing to Detroit in a shootout the day after Thanksgiving. After the game, there is nothing else really around the arena other then a Hotel, which has a bar in it, that was offering $1 for anyone with a ticket from the game, so we headed over there for a drink, and since, like I said, there is really nothing else around there, this is where the Bruins were staying so we say some of the Bruins players coming in before we headed back to the city. Once we got back in to the city, we hit up another bar, which again, no idea what the name was or where it was, but we had some drinks, met some people from Wisconsin, and that was about it. Headed back, stopped at a Diner to get some food and called it a night.

Sunday, after a lot of hanging around and recovery, it was time for the Main Event of the weekend, WWE Survivor Series at Madison Square Garden, featuring The Rock returning to the ring for the first time in 7 1/2 years. I had never been to Madison Square Garden, and unfortunately I didn't really get to see it in it's full capacity, because they are in the middle of a huge renovation, and while they had finished the first stage, they still have a ways to go, so, I didn't really get to see what it used to look like, and I didn't really get to see what it's gonna look like, so it was a little strange. But with that said, I was there, it's the Mecca, certainly for Wrestling, so it was fun to be there, but as per usual, the New York crowd is always a bit unpredictable on how they will react, but 3 things were certain, even from just waiting in line to get it. Cena was gonna gett booed out of the building, The Rock was gonna get a huge ovation, and people really wanted to see Zack Ryder. Now, the Cena thing was a bit obvious, the guy even gets booed in his hometown mostly because of the carry over of the Attitude era where older fans do not like the goodie two shoes face, whereas the younger crowd, which there is more of today then there was in the Attitude era, and also the females, like that and specifically Cena, but also keep in mind it;s a Boston guy in NY, and him and The Rock are feuding, so more or less it could have been anyone as the antagonist for The Rock and they are gonna get somewhat booed, only guy that might not is Stone Cold. Or, perhaps Zack Ryder, now while Zack Ryder has certainly gotten noticed in the last couple months and has started getting quite the fan base, mostly due to his weekly internet show called Z! True Long Island Story the thing you need to notice there is the Long Island part, and with this being New York, he was over huge. Ok, so lets get to the show, first of all, here's a picture of the setup:
Here's the ring, now eventually I'll have a picture of the Entrance setup, which typically when they have a PPV at MSG, they don't usually have a big setup, just a small little entrance which is usually opposite camera, why they chose not to do that this time around, I'm not sure, maybe because of the construction, things got switched up that wouldn't allow them to do that, but seems kinda dumb to have it setup this way, certainly could have sold a lot more tickets, place was packed, sold out in no time. Oh well, not my problem. So, things got stared with a dark match between Santino Marella (who was way over with the crowd) vs Jinder Mahal, Santino of course hit the Cobra to get the win and get the crowd going. Now, as for the actually Survivor Series PPV, it started off with Dolph Ziggler, who actually got a pretty good reception, defending to US title against John Morrison, who had the unfortunate role of not being Zack Ryder, which pretty much got him booed out of the building. It would also end up being John Morrison's last PPV match, as his contract was not renewed and he was stretched out this past Monday by The Miz, but getting a little ahead of ourselves here. Dolph Ziggler was able to get the victory:
But then it was time for what everyone wanted, as Zack Ryder hit the right to beat up Dolph, and of course do some fist pumping:
Woo Woo Woo, You Know It!

Next up Beth Phoenix beat Eve Torres in a Lumberjill match, yeah, whatever.
Following this, The Rock made his first appearance of the night cutting a backstage promo:

After this we had a traditional Survivor Series match between Team Barrett: Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler (doing double duty), Jack Swagger and Hunico:
vs Team Orton: Randy Orton, Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, Ryan Mason and Sin Cara:
Match didn't get off to a great start, as not very long into the match after a dual dive to the outside by Kofi Kingston and Sin Cara, Sin Cara legitimately hurt his knee and had to be helped to the back. It's always a bit of a weird thing in wrestling regarding injuries, cause most of the time they are faked, like even if the guy is legit injured, they play out an injury angle, cause generally speaking those are a lot more interesting and spectacular than the real injury is, like in this instance, he just landed wrong and hurt his knee, nothing really happened and it didn't make sense within the match. Anyway, after people were eliminate from each side it eventually came down to Randy Orton vs Jack Swagger, Hunico, Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes, and while Randy Orton was able to eliminate Swagger and Hunico, Rhodes and Barrett proved to be too much for Orton and Barrett hit wasteland and got the win for Team Barrett with Rhodes and Barrett as the Survivors:

Interesting to note, Cody Rhodes was very over, maybe it was because he was no longer wearing his mask, or cause he had new music, or was actually wearing kneepads, anyway you look at it, NY crowds are nuts. Speaking of which, next up we had the World Heavyweight Title Match between the challenger The Big Show:
vs the champion, the World's Strongest Man Mark Henry:
Now, surprisingly to me, Mark Henry got a huge ovation in my section, I was a little surprised by this, until I turned around and saw who was sitting behind me in my section, huge contingent of Mark Henry fans, without getting into to much detail, this group had a common bond with him, let's just leave it at that. Anyway, following what happened in their last match at the last PPV:
Which was very reminiscent of a match between Big Show and Brock Lesnar:
Well, I was expecting something crazy to happen again, now obviously the ring collapsing wasn't gonna happen again, because they already did it, and they still had 2 matches to go, so that would have been an issue although didn't stop them last month which resulted in the next match having to take place in a broken ring, but anyways. The big spot of the match saw the Big Show doing a top rope elbow drop, which resulted in a huge Randy Savage chant, which was fine, impressive, but also strange, cause the same thing happened in the next match, when CM Punk did a top rope elbow drop. Anyway, the end of the match was very disappointing as Mark Henry got intentionally DQed by kicking Big Show in the balls. Big Show would then get some revenge and squashed Mark Henry's foot in a chair, so doesn't appear that this feud is anywhere near over.

Next up was the WWE Championship match between the Champion along with his personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez:
ALBERTOOOOOO DEL RIIIIIIIIIIIIIO!
vs The challenger, with his personal ring annoucer, Howard Finkel:

CM Punk:
It was clobbering time:
Match of the night, lots of back and forth, crowd was very pro CM Punk. Tons of false finishes. Ricardo got involved many times, until Punk took care of him and eventually after failed attempts at the Go To Sleep, Punk gets Del Rio in the Anaconda Vice, and Del Rio eventually tapped out to the winner and new WWE Champion CM Punk, who decided to celebrate by diving into the crowd:
And Finally, it was time for the Main Event. The Awesome Truth: The Miz and R-Truth:
vs John Cena:
and The Rock:

Got to give The Rock some credit, it had been over 7 1/2 years, but he stepped back in the right like it was 1999 all over again and did all the same things he always did. Typical tag match, with the heels taking control beating down on the the faces, in this case John Cena, until he gets the hot tag to The Rock, who then but Boots to Asses and took control of the match and ultimately hit R-Truth with a Rock Bottom and finally hit The Miz with the people's elbow:
for the 1,2,3 and the victory:
But things weren't quite over yet, as the Rock was celebrating:
John Cena started walking towards the back, giving a somewhat sarcastic cheer for The Rock, which caused the Rock to call Cena back to the ring:
and The Rock eventually gave Cena the Rock Bottom as the show ended. But for those in attendance, things weren't quite over, as The Rock then gave a promo thanking the fans for coming out and even giving props to Zack Ryder, and then gave us a If You Smell What The Rock Is Cookin' and that was it.

After making my way out of MSG, stepped out onto the streets of NY, which are already getting ready from Christmas:
Finally, as I was making my way to my Bus back to Boston on Monday, I had to take the 7 to Times Square, and then I could take the 1,2 or 3 to Penn Station, the walk over to the Bus, which just so happened to be picking me up right in front of the Manhattan Center:
Which as you may or may not know, was the site of the first Monday Night Raw, and many more way back in 1993, and saw one of the biggest upsets of all time, when a relatively unknown Kid would beat Razor Ramon:
Of course he would go on to be known as the 1-2-3 Kid. It all connects. Have a great night, I'll be back with more later.

Boots to Asses

Well, last night I attended what was definitely one of the best RAWs that I have been too in a long time. A lot of that was because it was the return of The Rock, and as announced, but then taken back, but rumored to happen anyway, and it did, the return of Mick Foley. It was a really fun show, I took some pictures and videos of some of the stuff that happened, unfortunately for some reason the videos I took aren't uploading, that's kinda stupid, but whatever, couldn't really see all that much anyway. Here was the ring getting setup for the Michael Cole Challenge:
And here is the RAW stage, seats were way up the balcony, didn't get them until after the Rock and Mick Foley were announced, so they started selling pretty fast after that, so there wasn't a great selection left, and it was certainly sold out, no question of that.
As expected the Michael Cole Challenge, was pretty stupid, and well, CM Punk came out to put en end to that, here he is confronting Michael Cole:
But everyone was really here to see the returns, and Mick Foley was first, and doing a familiar segment of This Is Your Life, with John Cena:
Well, not only did Mick Foley return there, but The Rock graced us with his presence to give us a little preview of what was coming up later, and why the hell not it had been a long time since Mick Foley had gotten a Rock Bottom. Really liked the shout out to Kowloon, if you aren't familiar with the Kowloon, it's a Chinese restaurant on Route 1 in Saugus, which is a big hangout of wrestlers after the shows at the Garden. If you are ever there, check out the walls, they have tons of autographed photos of the wrestlers that have been there. There was a lot of other stuff that was going on during the special 3 hour Raw, but I'll just hit the high points for you. Now, the last time I went to a wrestling show, it was the Royal Rumble back in January at the TD Garden, so the segment involving Santino Marella and Kevin Nash, brought back some memories of that night:
Now, it should be noted, last week I went to the Bruins vs Oilers game, which featured the number 1 and 2 picks from the 2010 NHL draft, Tyler Seguin for the Bruins and Taylor Hall for the Oilers, but this week the Columbus Blue Jackets are at the Garden, and they feature Rick Nash, so I tried to get both games, so I could see Hall and Nash, but as it turned out, I did end up seeing Hall and Nash. Speaking of Hall, if you haven't seen the E:60 segment on ESPN about Scott Hall, you should definitely check it out, it's pretty sad, but very interesting, and as a followup to that, if you do watch it, Scott Hall is back in rehab.

And of course, Finally, The Rock came back to Boston:
There you have it people, this all leads to this Sunday and Survivor Series at MSG, which I will be attending, I'll try and take some move pictures and less videos, cause apparently they don't work here. It should be a good show. Obviously the Main Event will be fun, The Rock and John Cena vs The Miz and R-Truth. The Rock with be putting Boots to Asses, John Cena will probably get booed out of the building, expect for all the Lil' Jimmys, meanwhile R-Truth will be trying to shut up those lil' Jimmys and of course The Miz will be awesome.

Let me just say this, there are only 2 good things that ever came out of Ohio and 1 of them is The Miz.

Ok, well, we also got Alberto Del Rio vs CM Punk for the WWE Title, that should be a good match, hope CM Punk comes out on top, kinda feel like he didn't really get his full run with the title earlier this year, should have had it longer.

Mark Henry vs The Big Show for the World Heavyweight Title, not really sure what to expect out of this match, last match wasn't bad, but it clearly was just leading up to the big spot with the ring collapsing, so I would expect to see some sort of real ending this time around. Kinda think Mark Henry will keep the title.

A Traditional Survivor Series Match, Team Orton, with Randy Orton, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus, Sin Cara and Mason Ryan vs Team Barrett with Wade Barrett, Hunico, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger and just added Dolph Ziggler, replacing the injured Christian. I'm not sure why Dolph Ziggler wasn't in this match to begin with, maybe he was actually gonna fight Zack Ryder for the US title cause Zack Ryder has an internet campaign to get a title shot, so maybe Dolph will do double duty again.

There will also be a women's match, but still that leaves a lot of time, so I would expect another match or 2 to be announced. Figure Nash and Triple H may do something, maybe Mick Foley will be there as well to do something. Figure there will probably be some surprises, it is at MSG after all.

Ok, that is all for tonight, got Foo Fighters tomorrow, be back with my review of that, who btw are on Letterman tonight, performing with Joan Jett, who showed up at their show in MSG a couple night ago, check it out:
Doubt she will be there tomorrow, but you never know.

11-11-11

Hello everyone, well it's finally here, it's 11-11-11, so what does that mean, well, it's a cool date first of all. It's Veteran's Day in the US, as well as Remembrance Day and other various versions of that all around the world, so for all those people out there that are members of the military in some form or another or that ever served, thank you. 11-11-11 is also National Metal Day, so crank up those stereos and blast some metal. Now you might be asking yourself, why is 11-11-11 National Metal Day? Well, this should clear things up for you:
So, if you are into Metal VH1 Classic is running all sorts of specials all day, so check it out

Ok, well, November is also a special month, cause it's Movember, now you maybe asking yourself, what is Movember, well, you might be aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and people all wear pink to help raise awareness. Well, in that same thought, November is Prostate Cancer Awareness month, so in order to raise awareness, guys grow Moustaches, as they are called. So, I felt since, as I've documented on this blog before, I can grow some pretty mean facial hair, why the hell not? So, I've just been growing it out since November 1st, but today I groomed it up a bit, and here are the results:
I also managed to break my trimmer while doing this, so I need a new one, but I'm kinda lazy and might not do that right away, so this could be here to stay for a while.

One last story about 11-11-11. back when I was a naive little young man, I thought you know what 11-11-11 is gonna be an awesome date, so what would be really cool is to have a child on that day, figuring at the time, oh I'll be 30 by then, I'll probably be ready to settle down and have a family, boy was I wrong. But I'm sure there were plenty of others out there like me who had the same thought, so there were probably a lot of children out there born today, so happy birthday to all of you, and I'm sure there are a lot that were probably are probably will be born at 11:11, so good for you. Apparently similarly there were a lot of weddings today for this same reason, so nicely played as well.

Well, that's all for today, enjoy the rest of 11-11-11. One more clip for the road:
Hello Cleveland!!! Ok, well, I'm pretty sure if I was in Cleveland or anywhere in Ohio that is, I'd probably just want to get out of there too. Anyway, this of course reminds me of this:

Best part about this, door clearly wasn't locked. Oh WCW

Men Only Want To Know, What Else Is On TV?

Now, before I get to my reviews of some of the fall shows, can I just say this, as this is The 30+ Old Man Angry Blog, I got to be angry about something, so here it is: I am already sick of the Christmas commercials. It's only November 9th, it's got to stop, it's way to early to be bombarded with all this Christmas stuff, I love Christmas and all, but let's keep it to December, OK?

Ok, as in the last post, there are gonna be some spoilers in this post, so just be warned if you aren't caught up or whatever.

So, one of the biggest questions coming into the fall season was who is gonna be the new manager of The Office, and while I'm not usually one to toot my own horn, but pretty sure I said right here on the blog, that it had to be Andy, and I was right and it is. So, how's that working out, well, The Office will never be the same without Michael Scott, it just can't be. James Spader has definitely added another element to keep it interesting and everyone else is pretty much just chugging along as they have been, so it's not like it's terrible. Andy as the manager has been ok, I just don't think he really works as the manager, they spend the last couple seasons establishing that he was kinda a terrible sales person and not a good worker, so then why is he the manager now? Personally, I think they should have just left Creed as the Manager, cause it would have been pretty damn funny, and it wouldn't really get people to focus on whether Andy is living up to Michael or not, but whatever, I think the focus is more on Robert California anyway.

Next up, Boardwalk Empire is back for a second season. I must say, I've been watching this show since if started and I still am not sure if I like it or not. I want to like it, I'm told I should like it, it seems like I like it, but at the end of each episode, I'm just not that impressed. I guess I'm gonna keep watching it, but I don't really have any idea where it is going or why I care. Maybe it's because it's a time period piece and based on real people, so I can just go look up stuff and see what really happened and whatever, but I don't know if that is it. I mean, I like Steve Buscemi, and I think his character of Nucky Thompson is interesting, but there is just way too much other stuff going on, that A. I'm not really interested in and B. hard to keep track of who is who and what they are doing. There was one scene in a recent episode where Shooter McGavin is talking to Jack Malloy, and I'm just thinking, wait, why are these 2 in the show, who are they exactly, I thought that guy was in Dexter, I still have no idea what was going on the that scene, and that seems to happen alot. I like the fact that Omar from the Wire plays a character named Chalky White, and his scene in the jail was pretty spectacular, but it kinda hurts him when he also the same week was on Community as the new teacher, like what? But anyway, lets move on to one of the show that I just mentioned.

Dexter is back and killing people again, first couple of episodes kinda dragged as they were trying to establish this seasons theme, which is religion, specifically Christianity I guess, and the killers who are known as the Doomsday Killer and are being played by Edward James Olmos who believes that he has been speaking to God and along with his assistant played by Colin Hanks, are performing scenes from the bible which lead to the end of the world. Meanwhile Dexter is getting more familiar with religion as he befriends one of his former targets, Brother Sam, who has changed his life around with finding God, but that's all over, cause in the last episode Brother Sam died after being shot, but someone who he thought was his friend, and while Brother Sam had told Dexter that he forgave him, Dexter killed him anyway, and now things have changed, as the visions of his dead Father have been replaced by his dead brother, aka the icetruck killer. Next weeks episode seems like things are gonna get nuts, Dexter is talking to his "brother" and supposedly the Trinity Killer "returns" Meanwhile Debra is the new lieutenant, her and Quinn broke up, whatever, sure, great, fine, it's all about Dexter for me, so all the other stuff I don't really care as much about. Season has been good, looking forward to where it goes.

Sons of Anarchy has been having quite an action packed season, which pretty typical for that show, but unlike the other seasons, I feel that much like with Breaking Bad this past season, shit is gonna hit the fan, based on what has happened, Tara having the letters from Jax's dad implementing Clay and Gemma in his murder. Now while Tara hasn't told Jax about these letters, Gemma, Clay, Piney and Unser all knew about these letters as well. These lead to Clay killing Piney and setting out a hit on Tara, and then beating up Gemma, so while Jax knows none of this yet, when he finds out, something is gonna happen. Meanwhile a US Attorney is in charming trying to use the Sons in order to get to the Irish, he minipulated the new lieutenant who was able to blackmail Juice in order to get info from the Sons, so that story line is gonna get interesting. Of course this is all connected to the Sons selling guns to Machete and the Cartel and are then in turn smuggling drugs to the Mayans for them, which is causing a lot of problems. Of course Jax is only doing this one last thing and is then getting out, pretty much as he always is. Couple problems I've had with this season, I realize that Kurt Sutter made the show and is married to Katey Sagal, and she's fine in her role, no problem there, but when they start using her music in the show, little too much. Also, for whatever reason, even though this didn't really bother me in the past, Charlie Hunnam who plays Jax, he's British and well, his American accent isn't great, and it's kinda getting annoying, but not as annoying as the lead guy in this next show.

Walking Dead, the lead role in this show is also British, and he's trying to not only pull off a American accent, but a southern accent, not good, not good at all. With that said, I like this show, don't love it, really enjoyed the first season, but this second season hasn't been as good. They seem to be way to focus on the kids so far this year, they have spent the whole season looking for a lost girl, and then tending to the little boy that got shot. I want more crazy zombie battles, and violence, that's what this show is about, I realize they are trying to establish these characters and all that so that we will care if they survive, but lets get some more action going. The buzz on this show is that the fans of the comic that this is based on are a little upset about the direction, but it's doing great in the ratings, had the highest rated episode of anything ever on AMC, so that's got to count for something. Gonna be a little annoying, now while they extended the number of episodes this season, last year there was only 6, this year there is gonna be 13, they are only airing the first 7 in a row, then are taking a break and bringing it back in February for the last 6, personally I don't really like that with shows like this, I want them all together, easier for me to remember what is happening and keep track week to week, but other shows do this same type of thing, like this next show:

Burn Notice, it aired mostly over the summer, but just came back after a short break, Now, Burn Notice is a good show, not great, good. It's an entertaining show that keeps you interesting week to week, cause you want to ultimately see what will happen, but also they keep you busy by throwing in something that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the main story. This season Michael was able to get back in with the CIA to help them out, but meanwhile someone set him up and killed his partner, which lead to him having to figure out who, but keeping the CIA at bay. He eventually thinks he has it all figured out and then a monkey wrench is thrown in and now there is a new bad guy, seems to happen every season where someone else comes out of the woodwork that for whatever reason has something against Michael and needs him to work for him, to get him to do something bad, this new guys wants Michael to infiltrate the CIA. Yeah, it's not all the original, but it's got a lot of action and some interesting characters, so I like it.

Moving on, South Park has been ok, not great, I feel like maybe Trey and Matt are a bit burned out with all the other stuff they have been doing with their musical Book Of Mormon, which won a ton of awards. They did finish the cliffhanger that they had setup with the last episode from the spring episodes, which was a nice touch, but it wasn't nearly as good as the first one. Lemmiwinks did finally return, as he had to battle his brother Wikileaks, that was a decent episode. The episode dealing with The Occupy crap was pretty good. Best episode so far in this run has probably been The Last of the Meheecans, which focused mainly on Butters ending up in Mexico. They got 2 more to go, so hopefully they end the season on a high note.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia has had a great season so far, Danny Devito seemingly went all out to just look ridiculous this year. Mac gained 50 pounds for no real reason, they kinda focused on it a bit in the first few episodes, but now that they are deep into the season, just seems like everyone has just accepted it and don't care anymore. There have been a couple dud episodes so far, but for the most part, it's been a really solid season, which the best episode probably being when they go to the Jersey Shore, and we were all introduced to a little something called Rum Ham:

Other shows I'm watching, Simpsons (yeah I still watch, it still has it's moments), Family Guy, Cleveland Show, American Dad, Community, Park and Rec and Psych, they have all pretty much retained Status Quo, they are comedies, so it's pretty much what it is, some of it is funny, some isn't, but speaking of comedies:

Beavis and Butt-Head are back, now while we are only 2 weeks into the reboot, I've got to say that so far I'm a little disappointed. Let me explain, when Beavis and Butt-Head was originally on back in the 90's I was a young wippersnapper, MTV was where it was at, they would show awesome music videos from Artists that I was into and familiar with, Beavis and Butt-Head would they watch those videos and make fun of them, I got the jokes, I loved it. So here's the problem, music videos aren't what they used to be, I don't know a lot of the new music out there anymore, which leads to a couple issues, instead of watching videos all the time, they are watching shows like Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, 16 & Pregnant, etc. Well, I don't watch that crap, so I don't get it, and the videos they do watch are videos I've never seen before some by artists I'm not really familiar with, so it's weird. With that said, the actual episodes have been pretty funny so far, so I'm still enjoying it. The one other thing that I don't know that I totally like, is that back in the day, the animation wasn't great, but that went along with the times, there have been a lot of advances in animation, but for whatever reason, maybe to be nostalgic or whatever, but they could have at least cleaned it up a bit, they are using some of the same animation they used to use over and over again back in the day, they also could have made it widesceen and HD. I'm not asking for Pixar quality here, but come on I got a nice HDTV, so let me use it.

On a random note, there is an old saying that goes "He who hesitates is lost" I'm not really sure where this saying originated or whatever, but let me just say this: If that's true, then consider me stuck in the middle of the Lost Woods in Zelda with no damn clue at remembering the pattern. What does this mean, where I am I going with this, not totally sure yet, but I thinking it might be time to make some decisions and makes some moves. So, you have all been warned.

Guess that is all for today. Gonna pretty busy coming up the next week and a half, so not sure when I'll be getting back on the blog, but with all the stuff I got coming up, gonna have to blog about it, so eventually I'll get back here. Also didn't really dive into some of the new shows that I've watching, or the Movies that I've seen, so at some point I'll get into that.

In closing, as I was finishing up my post from yesterday, I learned of the new that Heavy D had died, so with that, here's a little something to remember him by, keeping with the TV theme, Heavy D did the theme song to In Living Color:
RIP

Is There Anything Good On TV?

Since I've been gone, there has been a lot of stuff on TV, some good, some bad, some horrible, so let's dive right into with some reviews, there will be a lot of spoilers and stuff here, so if you haven't watched some of these shows and are planning on it, then I suggest that maybe you skip this post, or pick and choose what you read or do whatever you damn well please, it's your life, what do I care, but just be warned.

Entourage, it ended and it sucked a lot, like what the hell was that? The last season was absolute garbage. Now, granted, the show was never exactly what I would call a great show, it was someone interesting, but never great, a good excuse to waste an half hour every Sunday when it was on, but seriously? The last season was so bad, I can't even tell you what happened, Vincent took a drug test, that was a show, of course he passed somehow, he ends up for some reason falling for a reported and decides to get married out of nowhere, really?. Turtle became a millionaire somehow, What? E and Sloan break up, but she's pregnant and then somehow they end up back together cause Vincent told her too, or I think that is what happened, who the hell knows. Johnny Drama got a cartoon show with Andrew Dice Clay, and got a raise for doing nothing, yup, that happened, why? what? Finally, after spending the whole season almost getting divorced, Ari and his wife decide to move to some Island or something and Ari decides to quit, I'm pretty sure leaving Lloyd in charge of the agency, I'm not really even sure at this point. BUT, of course it all ends after the credits with Ari getting a call the CEO of Time Warner, who wants to retire and wants Ari to take over.... which is the cliffhanger for what eventually will lead to the feature film, which I'm sure will be spectacular.

Another show came to an end just a few days before that, and which it didn't end quite as badly as Entourage, it still wasn't great. Rescue Me came to an end just a couple days prior to the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, which was fitting, but maybe a bit too easy. The last season focused on the 10th anniversary and all that had happened in the 10 years since then coming to a head. But the show really had fallen into a bit of a repeatitive cycle over the years, Tommy's drunk, then he's sober, then he's drunk, then he's sober. He's with his wife, he hates his wife, he's with his wife, he hates his wife. Well, it all came to an end with him being sober and having a baby with his wife, which is all well and good, but the whole scene with her giving birth to the baby in the apartment was a bit over the top. Now, Rescue me has never backed away from killing off main characters, so it wasn't a surprise that they would go and kill off Lou, you figured someone wasn't making it through the season, sure they could have gone crazy with it and killed off Tommy, but I feel like that would have been a bit much and a bit too harsh of an ending. It wasn't a great ending to the series, but it was ready for the show to end.

Curb Your Enthusiasm and Louie had a nice little battle for funniest show of the summer, I think Curb won out, had some great episodes this season, specifically the one with Bill Buckner was hilarious. Louie was good this year, however the funniest parts were probably his standup, almost went in a more of a different direction this year, seemed a bit more dramatic then the first season. Wilfred also made a nice splash this year, funny show, didn't realize until around the end of the season that it was actually already a show in Australia and had the same guy doing the Wilfred character, it was interesting to see Elijah Wood coming out of his element a bit doing a goofy comedy show, but a nice change of pace for him I guess, wasn't sure how I was gonna be able to handle him in a role like that, but he's not bad.

This leads us to what is probably the best show on TV right now, Breaking Bad, and season 4 did not disappoint, it all came to a head. It started off a bit slow, but it picked up big time as the season went along. I can't state this enough, if you are not watching this show, you should be, anyway you can get a hold of it, get it, and watch. Stop reading this right now if you haven't seen it, go out, buy, rent, download, whatever you got to do and start watching. The whole chess game between Gus and Walt was awesome, Gus trying to turn Jesse against Walt, trying to make Jesse into what Walt was in order to get rid of Walt, and then Walt turning it around on him, but making Jesse believe that Gus had poisoned the little kid, brilliant. The whole back story with Gus in Mexico was very interesting and it all coming together with Walt getting Hector to agree to blow himself up in order to kill Gus, that scene was probably one of the most intense scenes that I've seen on TV in a long, long time. Then when Gus walks out of the room adjusts his tie to make you think he someone is gonna survive the blast, only to reveal that the other side of his face is missing, simply amazing, that's all I really have to say. It will interesting to see where they go in the 5th and final season, especially with Gus out of the picture, my guess is that Jesse will discover that it was in fact Walt that poisoned the little kid and that it will eventually come down to a showdown between them too, which we got a bit of a preview of this season, but I feel like that it was just the tip of the iceberg. It's a bit disappointing that next season is gonna be the last, but at least it will be 16 episodes instead of the usual 13.

Now, unfortunately because of contract issues, there was no Mad Men this summer, it will be back next year some time, but that doesn't stop Joan Holloway from being in my life, yup, had a request from her at work today, now granted, clearly not the same Joan Holloway, but still, I can imagine it is, right?

Ok, that's all for today, be back next time with my thoughts on the Fall shows so far, including my thoughts on The Office without Michael Scott, the return of Beavis and Butt-Head. Plus what new shows have I been watching, and how are the rest of the shows living up to their names so far. So get ready for that, but for now, I will leave you as I always do, with a little treat:

Oh yeah, if you haven't heard, Arrested Development is coming back, yup, that's gonna be awesome.

Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Go Back In The Water

Wait, what is that? It's can't be, no, wait, is it? Oh my god, it is. Greg is back with another blog post, but what's this, a new name. Yup, the Bliggity Blog is dead, and The 30+ Old Man Angry Blog is here to stay. Basically, as I figure it, since my last post, I turned 30, so I am now an old man, so it is acceptable for me to be an old angry bitter man, and what better way to express that then on the internet in a blog. More or less I've been told that I have been very angry lately, and I pretty much can't attribute that to anything else then me turning 30 and the harsh realities of that. Now, I guess it hasn't been all bad too far, wasn't sure exactly sure how I was gonna feel about it, and not much has changed, but there are some little things. Maybe my beard has a little lighter coloring in it that it did before, it happens. Maybe I can't stay up all night drinking or drink all day quite like I used to be able to, or maybe I can, not sure about that one yet. I guess maybe turning 30 might be a kick in my ass to start figuring stuff out with my life, and while it really hasn't, I guess at least I'm thinking about it, so get ready world, cause I don't know what that means.

Ok, so what else has been happening since my last post, well I got the new iPhone 4S, partially cause I wanted to and partially cause of necessity, yeah I dropped my old one and the screen got all messed up. I only had the 3G anyway and I was ready for an upgrade anyway. I will say this it certainly is faster and looks a lot nicer, but battery isn't much better, although I haven't really had the issues that have been talked about in the news. With all that said, the only big upgrade for the 4S over the 4 other then the speed, is a better camera, which I hardly use, and Siri, the personal assistant, and which it seems really cool, and it's fun to mess around with, the practicality of it doesn't really seem to work. For all the time it takes it to actually do something or understand what you are saying, you can probably just do it yourself, I suppose it's useful when you are driving, but whatever. Siri can make for some funny exchanges though:
Let's see what else has done down. Red Sox sucked a lot and blew their lead and didn't make the playoffs, then fired Terry Francona and let Theo go to the Cubs, yeah, I guess it was pretty bad, but it was bound to happen eventually, so whatever. Nothing really else to say about it at this point. St. Louis Cardinals ended up pulling off a ridiculous run and winning the World Series in 7 games, including being down to their last strike on 2 different instances in Game 6, and pulling out the win. Pretty remarkable win by them, and that lead to Tony LaRussa retiring. So, good for him.

Football season is about half way done and the Patriot are falling into mediocrity, the defense is terrible, specifically the secondary, which is a revolving door. The offense, which was off to a record setting start, has falling back to earth and Tom Brady hasn't exactly been lighting it up like he did last year, but there's still plenty of time for them to pull it together and get the season back on track and win the division and get to the playoffs and maybe win a damn playoff game this damn year.

Bruins raised a banner at the Garden:

But the got off to a terrible start and currently are tied for last place in the conference with the Islanders, who they coincidentally play tonight at the Garden. They are coming off their best game of the season though, as they won 7-0 over Toronto in Toronto on Saturday night and have won 2 in a row, so hopefully they can build off that momentum and get back to the top of the division.

Now, while I am not going to the Bruins game tonight, I will be going this Thursday, which will kick off a crazy week and a half for me. Thursday, Bruins game at the TD Garden as mentioned against the surprising Oilers, then next Monday, Live from the TD Garden, Finally, The Rock comes back to Boston, yup The Rock returns for a special 3 Hour Raw, this is to lead up to Survivor Series, where The Rock will be teaming up with John Cena to take on The Miz and R-Truth, it will be The Rocks first match since 2004, when The Rock and Mick Foley lost to Randy Orton, Ric Flair and Batista at Wrestlemania 20, which happened to take place at the same place that Survivor Series does, Madison Square Garden in NYC, and yup, I will be in attendance. But Wait, before all that 2 days after Raw, it's back to the TD Garden for the Foo Fighters, then while down in NYC, I'll be headed to Long Island to watch the Bruins take on the Islanders, so yup, gonna be pretty busy. I am actually really looking forward to Raw, and seeing The Rock, it will be the first time seeing him in person since April, 2003 at Backlash, when he took on Goldberg:
and it will be the first time seeing The Rock in Boston, since he had this exchange with Stone Cold:
Almost 10 years to the day. Should be noted that for a couple weeks, they were actually advertising Mick Foley's return as well, but then the all of a sudden stopped, so it will be interesting to see if he actually shows up or not, I hoping someone just jumped the gun on that and it was supposed to be a surprise, so they had to back track, who knows. Anyway, it should be an interesting couple week, and now that the blog is back, you can come along for the ride with me.

This time around with the blog, I'm gonna try and keep the posts shorter and do them more often, hopefully I can stick to that, but we shall see. Next time up I will dive into some of the TV that has gone down, reviewing some of the shows that took place while I wasn't posting as well as my thoughts on how the new seasons have started.

But as always, want to leave you with a little treat:
It's a classic.
