SAW VI

Now it's time for SAW VI, easily considered to be the worst in the series. Released on October 23rd, 2009. Starring Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Betsy Russell, Mark Rolston, and somehow Shawnee Smith, thought she was dead, maybe she isn't, possibly a lot of flashbacks, after all jigsaw is dead and Tobin Bell still gets top bill, then of course a bunch of people I've never heard of. Directed by Kevin Greutert, there is actually a funny story that involves him, but it has more to do with the next Saw, so I'll save it for then. Box office wise this is also the worst, grossing only 27m domestically and 68m worldwide, some of that had to do with it being bad, but alot of it had to do with Paranormal Activity blowing it out of the water, I still have yet to see it, so not sure it was worthy of all the hype, probably was just something new that got people's interest rather then the same old story. But anyway, let's begin

0:00 Lionfart, twisted tea, we know, great. I really don't remember too much about this one either, other than it being pretty awful, I feel like there is some power struggle between Hoffman and Jill over who should be carrying out John/Jigsaws requests and legacy, plenty of more flashbacks, a bunch of grusome games and killings, and that's about it.By the way want to point out that one of the producers and apparently named Hoffman, noticed this in the last one, so no wonder how Hoffman got his name

0:02: We start off 2 people trapped in a game, we don't know who they are, I'm sure that we will at some point and it might be connected to the main story somehow, but just a way to start off with some gore. Having to cut off more flesh then the other person to win, pretty nasty, fat guy should beat the skinny girl, but she's going for a whole arm, could be close.

0:06: And the arm has it, see you later fat dude.

0:07: Some weird footage of what seemed to be Amanda and the dude that killed Jigsaw's baby together driving somewhere, then back to recap what happened at the end of V, and we are off to a good start.

0:08, Now, I'm no doctor, or police officer or detective or crime scene person or anything like that, so I can't say I've seen may dead bodies, unless you could roadkill or stuff like that, but some of the bodies that have gotten manged just look way too fake.

0:10: Ok, so the main victim in this one appears to be a man in charge of a corrupt health insurance company, probably one that in someway denied jigsaw coverage or something like that.

0:13: Oh shoot, Perez from IV isn't really dead, twist.

0:15: I guess if the Saw series hadn't had one thing yet, it a sneaky sexy reporter looking to cause trouble in order to get a good story.

0:18: Recaping the Box that was given to Jill and the whole miscarriage thing, which actually got me thinking, which movie was worse, this one or The Box, cause that was a pretty awful movie, and sorta had the same sorta moral delilma thing.

0:20: So, they could tell that a different knife was used to cut the jigsaw piece out of the latest victum, but was similar to the one in the murder of Hoffman's sister killer, wonder if this has to do with that Tempered Steel thing from the last movie.

0:22: There starts the power struggle between Jill and Hoffman, apparently Jill has all the envelopes that jigsaw was working on, and Hoffman has to get them from her, which isn't going so well for Hoffman, I don't see this ending well.

0:24 Flashback/memory, Amanda tells Jill how Jigsaw helped him overcome her addition, so it's a nice story at that point.

0:27: Wow, big shocker there, Health Insurance guy get captured and put into a game, will he survive, I honestly don't remember, but in addition his wife and son get kidnapped as well, and some other people.

0:29: Ok, so this first test is basically to see who can hold their breath longer, that's just bad.

0:31: I wonder if any of these people that get killed in any of these movies, provided that they aren't totally manged, are organ donors, if they are actaully usuing their organs to save other people, cause that would be good.

0:35: The reporter gets kidnapped too, no shocker there. I don't like here chances.

0:38: The creepy doll is back flying out of nowhere, and the creepy laugh, damn that thing is messed up. So, he saves the old lady, rather then the young dude, clearly, jigsaw was trying to make a point about him making decisions about who to cover.

0:42: Don't really get why if this reporter has been writing all these stories about jigsaw and all this, how come this is only the first time we are seeing her, shouldn't she have been mentioned before?

0:45: Flashback time, Amanda, Hoffman and Jigsaw all together as one big happy family, setting up a game, this seems like a crew that I would never want to hang out with, too many issues there, plus the whole killing you thing.

0:48: Ok, so now we see Jill getting the key that we already knew she had cause she already used it, that just seemed like a waste of time, I still don't understand why she was wearing it around her neck.

0:50: More flashbacks, we learn what the issues were between jigsaw and the health care company. I wonder if this movie was trying to make a point about health care, like was this in addition to being a horror film so like it's Saw meets Sicko, that Michael Moore documentary..

0:55: This is quite an elaborate fire maze thing set up, and on top of that a brain piercer, that chick didn't stand a chance.

1:00: Uh oh, they are on to Hoffman, this could be trouble, something tells me that all these detectives are making it out of this movie alive.

1:02: I know I've said this a million times, not sure how anyone else has felt about this, but merry go rounds aren't used enough in horror films, they really should be used more.

1:04: So, after going back to the II formula in V, they returned to the formula they used in III and IV for this one, have a main person involved in a bunch of games that involve people that you don't know or care about and have them be the ones get killed, I think it works better.

1:07: So, he ends up saving 2 chicks on the merry go round, interesting.

1:10: Right now you are feeling helpless

1:11: Yeah, remember when I said all the detectives weren't making it out of this movie, alive, I realize it wasn't a shot in the dark, and yeah, they didn't.

1:16: Ok, so the kid pulls the lever and it doesn't nothing, but then somehow the mom knows what it does?

1:17: See, I knew Amanda with with that dude at the beginning of the movie, didn't realize that Hoffman had blackmailed here, and now Jill knows and gonna make him pay.

1:19: He made it with 1 second left? oh and twist, the mom and son weren't his family, the reporter was, they were the son and wife of some dude that he denied coverage too, and now his fate is in their hands, interesting twist, not great, but decent.

1:21 Another little twist, John gave Jill the Amanda trap, he wanted Hoffman to survive the trap she did, and that was what was in the box,

1:23: The son decides to kill the heath insurance dude, which was connected to what happened to Hoffman, but able to get out of it and survive, with half a face, but nonetheless.

1:31: Whoa, bonus scene after the credits, not sure I ever saw that before, Amanda telling the little girl not to trust the person who saves her, which ultimately was Hoffman. Interesting

Ok, well, you know, I'm not sure that VI was worse then V, I think I actually like it a little better, just cause of the whole not having to have to learn or care about a ton of characters that are all involved in the games. Kinda surprised the reporter survived, but whatever, got to have some people still alive for the next one, not sure if she's in it or not, but whatever. Ok, so gonna take a little break, get some food and re-energize and then I'll be back for SAW 3D aka SAW VII aka SAW: The Final Chapter. Just to note, I will not be watching the 3D version, just the 2D version. I haven't seen it before, so this will be my first viewing.
