Now it is time for Saw VII, or Saw 3D or Saw The Final Chapter, whatever you want to call it, I will be watching the 2D version,. It was released on October 29th, 2010, originally it was supposed to be October 22nd, but since Paranormal Activity 2 was coming out that day, they decided to move it back a week. Rtarring Tobin Bell, Costas Mondylor, Betsy Russell and the return of Cary Elwes, then of course more people that I have never heard of. This one was directed by Kevin Greutert, which was actually a very involved story. Initially when signed on to do Saw VI, Greutert also had an studio option on his deal. So, after Saw VI performed so poorly, the studio initially decided not to pick up the option and went back to David Hackl who directed Saw V, but then after it was announced that Kevin Greutert was going to direct Paranormal Activity 2, the studio then decided to dump Hackl and pick up Greutert's option, much to his dismay, and probably just to try and screw over that movie, other then cause they actually wanted him. By the time he got on set they are already started with making sets and stuff, so it was hard for him to make any changes to anything, so probably not the greatest start. Anyway this movie bounced back a little bit from the previous and took in 45m domestic and 130m worldwide, but domestically was still the 2nd worst, guess the 3D didn't help enough, people were still too busy caught up in the Paranormal Activity buzz, as the sequel to that film again kicked saws ass. I'm sure the same thing with happen to that series, eventually something else will come along and derail that.
0:00: Lionsden and Twisted Metal, yup, I know, we all know, that's what we know so far. I have never seen this movie before, so I'm not really sure how much I'm gonna actually be commenting on this, just cause it was easier to do with the other movies cause I knew what was coming, so it was easier, but still gonna give it a shot.
0:01: So, we start off with Cary Elwes dragging himself with one foot through the hallways of the building, and soderizing his stump, interesting start, probably should have started Saw II off with that, but whatever 5 movies too late is good.
0:03: Now on to the random people that we have never seen before, being trapped in a game, along with the doll, but a nice little twist, they are in a window in front of a bunch of people.
0:05: Good to see that saws are in play for this one, it is saw, so there should be some saws
0:07: So, the 2 dudes that were being played by the same chick decided to work together and the chick died, bros before hoes.
0:08: Recap of the end of VI, with Jill turning of Hoffman, Hoffman escaping the trap with half his face cut off, but what we didn't see that Jill saw this and ran and hid.
0:10: Hoffman stitches himself up, nicely done.
0:11: "She looks crazier then a sack full of cats."
0:13: Jill cuts a deal to give up Hoffman, something tells me this is not gonna work out exactly as she plans, but she had to do something I guess, she knew he would be coming after her.
0:15: Ok, so we got this guy going around talking about how he survived a jigsaw trap, I'm guessing he's gonna end up in a trap again, unless he's just making the whole thing up to begin with. He certainly wasn't in any of the other movies.
0:18: They teased a dream scene in which Hoffman got Jill and killed her, figure it was way too early for that too happen, and it was.
0:19: More random people that we have never seen before in another trap, seems like they just want to have people killed off for no reason or much explanation other then just to kill people.
0:22: Well, that was quick, those racist all died quickly
0:24: Ok, so we got people who all survived a jigsaw trap meeting each other, the girl from Saw VI who cut off her arm is the only one that I know was featured in a previous movie so far, until....
0:26: Dr. Gordon everyone, he's still alive, and seems a bit upset about this whole thing, not sure where this is going yet, but could be interesting.
0:28: And Bobby, the guy doing the tour gets kidnapped, but by who I wonder, Hoffman, Gordon, someone else, Jill maybe? maybe Amanda or Jigsaw are still alive, ok probably not them, Shawnee Smith isn't even listed as being in the movie.
0:30: So, it would appear that Hoffman left the head trap thing that Jill put on him for the police to find, so that they would connect it to her with her prints.
0:31: And as I expected Bobby was lying, he was never in a trap before, so he couldn't have survive one, but will he now, and will his wife?
0:34: Flashback, we find out why Bobby decided to put on this facade. Seems reasonable enough, people love a survivor story.
0:37: It took Hoffman seconds to find out where the safe house was, that's not much of a safe house.
0:39: Ok, they are gojng with the formula we saw in III, IV and VI, one person dealing with multiple people that we don't really know, rather then II or V where we had a bunch of people at the same time, so that's a good thing.
0:42: That fish hook in the stomach thing was pretty nasty, not too many of these traps have made me too squimish, but that one seemed pretty rough, not totally sure why, there's been worse, but just the thought of what was happening there, was pretty bad.
0:44: Another flashback, we see jigsaw actually going and seeing Bobby and getting his auto on his book and talking about him being a liar, so he was on to him for a long time, I guess he must have been one of the people that were in those envelopes that jigsaw left for Hoffman.
0:47: That stupid doll comes crashing through a window out of nowhere, what is with that thing?
0:49: This Bobby dude is not very good at saving people, not that many of the others that have been in these situations have been all that good either, but atleast in the last one, the health insurance guy saved the old lady, and the 2 chicks on the merry go round, wonder if Bobby will be able to save anyone.
0:56: Wow, Bobby is terrible at this game, 0-3 so far at saving people, and that was just a terrible attempt.
0:57: Flashback time, we find out the history between Hoffman and the new guy Gibson, he saved his ass from some bum from attacking him, that's great.
1:00: Aw man, Bobby you got to pull your own teeth out to get the code, he better pull the right teeth, cause otherwise, that's gonna suck.
1:04: Well, Bobby did a good job of pull his teeth out, too bad he didn't put as much effort into saving those other people as he did with pulling his own teeth out.
1:06: Nice, he's getting the game that he made up that he said he survived thrown back in his face, can he actually do it, I have my doubts, but he did pull out his own teeth, so maybe.
1:10: Well, Hoffman just ruined Gibson and all those officers days, and he was hiding in a body bag, nicely played. Undertakeresque
1:13: Hoffman is just ripping through this police department like he was the Terminator looking for Sarah Connor, and now everyone is dead and Jill is locked in a cell, that was good planning.
1:16: Stupid bobby, didn't realize that the fake game he made up wouldn't really work, damn fool, now he's gonna be 0-4 saving people and is wife is gonna die.
1:18: Yup, 0-4 and he's probably gonna bleed out.
1:19: Hoffman puts the headtrap on Jill and she bites the dust, wasn't sure if that was what was gonna happen, but a fitting ending for her I guess.
1:21: Just when you thought that Hoffman was gonna get away with it, Dr. Gordon comes out of nowhere with a couple people and attacks Hoffman with pigmasks on. We then get treated to what happened after after the end of Saw, turns out Jigsaw helped Gordon and since then Gordon has been helping out Jigsaw all along. So, what does Gordon do with Hoffman, well, locks him up in the same bathroom where he was originally of course, but with no saw, GAME OVER!
Well, got to say that that was pretty good, a nice way to end it, if that was indeed the Final Chapter, remember that was also what they said back in 1984 about Friday the 13th Part 4, then they went on to make 6 more, plus Freddy vs Jason, and then rebooted it, so I don't really think that we have seen the end of Saw, but maybe just for now. Well, ladies and gentlemen, you maybe thinking to yourself, that was fun, but I guess it's over, well, there's where you are wrong, we are going all the way back to the beginning, before the feature film Saw came out, there was a short film called Saw that was a precursor to the movie, that'll be the next and final installment in the Sawathon.
